Choosing the right fabrics for you this summer

Choosing The Right Fabrics For Summer.jpg

Summer is here, and it's time to start thinking about our fresh new wardrobes it's important to keep in mind the importance of incorporating natural breathable fabrics during the warmer months. Not only do these fabrics feel better on your skin, but they also help regulate your body temperature and keep you feeling cool and comfortable all day long. Here are the benefits of making the switch to natural fabrics this summer:

  1. Breathability. One of the biggest advantages of wearing natural fabrics like cotton, linen, viscose, rayon and silk is their breathability. These fabrics allow air to circulate your body, which helps to evaporate sweat and keep you feeling cool and dry. Synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, can trap heat and moisture against your skin, which can lead to discomfort and even skin irritation. That being said there are some stunning synthetic fabrics for summer just make sure they are lightweight stretch and loose-fitted.

  2. Sustainability. Natural fabrics are often more sustainable. Cotton, for example, is a renewable resource that can be grown and harvested each year,

  3. Comfort There's nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in your clothes, especially during the hot summer months. Natural fabrics like cotton, linen, viscose, rayon and silk are lightweight and soft which means they won't weigh you down or cling to your skin. They also tend to have a looser weave, which allows for more movement and flexibility.

So, what are some natural fabrics to incorporate into your Laundry b summer wardrobe? Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Cotton is a classic summer fabric that is known for its breathability and comfort. Cotton comes in all textures and can be blended with other natural fabrics. For a jersey fabric look at our Riley collection. Another great pure cotton range is Sicily, the cheesecloth-like texture is nostalgic and the prices are fantastic!

    2. Linen is another great summer fabric that can also be blended. It's lightweight and breathable. It has a relaxed, casual vibe that is perfect for summer days spent lounging in the sun. Look for linen pants, skirts, and dresses in neutral tones like white, beige, and khaki. Look at our Pure Linen range or our Karma collection which is a perfect 50/50 blend of linen and cotton and our Noa range is a 55/45 linen and viscose which gives great fluidity.

    3. Silk might not seem like an obvious choice for summer, but it is actually a great option for those hot, humid days. Silk is lightweight and breathable, and it has a luxurious feel that is perfect for dressing up. Look for silk blouses, dresses, and skirts in bright colours and lux bohemian prints.

Viscose and Rayon. Many think that these two are man-made but they are amazingly derived from the cellulose or wood pulp from fast-growing, regenerative trees such as eucalyptus, beech and pine as well as plants like bamboo and soy. Viscose also gets mistaken as cotton to the touch. It comes in many textures is beautiful to print on and is surprisingly cost-effective. We especially love a good maxi dress, an oversized shirt and a palazzo pant in viscose as it moves so beautifully.

In conclusion, incorporating natural breathable fabrics into your summer wardrobe is not only stylish but also practical. With their breathability, sustainability, and comfort, these fabrics are sure to keep you feeling cool and confident all summer long.
