The Indira Print: From Ibiza to India, and Into Your Everyday Wardrobe
My love for the Indira print didn’t begin in India.
It began, as many good stories do, in Ibiza.
I was wandering through Ibiza Old Town when I stepped into a beautiful, soulful shop called Vicente Ganesha. A place heavy with atmosphere, a colourful history and instinctive style. Vicente himself — often referred to as Mr Ibiza — has an extraordinary eye. His boutique is famed for vintage fashion, Indian design, and for quietly dressing artists, stylists and those who understand clothes beyond trend.
The rails were full of the most exquisite pieces: fine, lightweight cottons, endlessly repeated Indirastyle prints, soft with age and movement. They were beautiful. They were expensive. And I didn’t care. In true Ibiza fashion, I was utterly seduced. I needed to own them.
And somewhere between handing over far too much money and pulling that cotton over my head, a seed was planted.
That thought became the push.
India was booked.
India: Chaos, Calm, and Colour That Fades Beautifully
I travelled to the south of India — Goa and beyond — four times before having children. And every time, I fell in love all over again.
India smells like warmth and ritual. A soft sweetness of jasmine and marigold, mingled with incense and something earthy — sun-warmed dust, spice, wood smoke, and rain hitting hot ground. It’s intoxicating and grounding all at once.
The chaos is alive, loud, colourful — and yet somehow it brings an inner calm. Creatively, I’ve never felt more awake.
What struck me most was colour. India uses brightness without fear — but the heat of summer and the drama of monsoon rain gently fade it. Colours soften, wash, and wear into something even more beautiful. That quiet, sun-worn elegance became the foundation of this collection’s palette.
What Is the Indira Print?
The Indira print is rooted in traditional Indian textile design, inspired by the rhythm of hand block printing — where small, repeated motifs are stamped again and again by hand.
What I love most is its repetition. The print feels artisan and human, even when it isn’t block printed. There’s a softness to it, a humility. The scale is delicate, never shouty, and incredibly flattering. It has the rare ability to sit confidently beside other prints, creating that effortless, collected look that feels cultured rather than styled.
It’s modern, but steeped in tradition.
And it never dates.
For Laundry b, I deliberately softened the palette — taking inspiration from sun-faded walls, washed cottons, and well-loved garments that have lived a life.
Fabric Choice: Familiar, Elevated, Intentional
For this print, fabric mattered deeply.
I chose our soft pure cotton loopback sweatshirt fabric — the same base used in our much-loved Lagen collection. It’s a fabric our customers already trust and understand. Soft, breathable, comforting, and flattering.
The Indira print sits beautifully on it. The drape allows the print to be seen properly — never stiff, never flat. The fabric is garment dyed and then printed, giving it an artisanal, lived-in feel. Nothing feels new-new. It feels collected. Considered.
This is everyday luxury.
From India to Laundry b: Design Translation
We spent a long time thinking about colour — not just the print, but what it should sit on. The background tones were chosen carefully so everything harmonises effortlessly.
The silhouettes do the rest.
Our lantern sleeve sweatshirt, with its relaxed cut and gentle volume, echoes the ease of Indian dressing. The classic barrel pant grounds the look — timeless, flattering, and endlessly wearable.
They are designed to slip straight into your existing Laundry b wardrobe and work hard, season after season.
This collection is about comfort, freedom, and escape — without trying too hard. The small-scale Indira print is wonderfully deflecting and flattering, and the softness of the fabric makes it a joy to wear.
You can wear it anywhere.
And you will be asked — again and again — “Where did you get that?”
Because this is boutique.
Exclusive.
And something you will never find on the high street.
Designed to be worn now — and loved for years.
From Ibiza, to India, to you.
